According to Teslarati, Tesla CEO Elon Musk emphasized that the Roadster’s purpose is not to boost company growth or shareholder returns but to create an awesome, unique vehicle that pushes the limits of what a car can be, including a configuration that can fly.
Musk said Optimus and Cybercab will represent the vast majority of Tesla’s future value, scaling through super intelligence, robotics, solar power, and space transport, while the Roadster remains a passion project. Cybercab is envisioned as a passive income opportunity via a driverless ride-hailing fleet.
Separately, The Boring Company has adapted its Prufrock Liner Truck, which uses Tesla Model 3 components, to carry standard shipping containers in its tunnels, expanding beyond concrete segment transport. The company has not indicated when a freight service might launch.
